Sarah Smith appointed to Director of Excursion Operations

Sarah Smith has been appointed to Director of Excursion Operations for the Santa Maria Valley Railroad.

Ms. Smith has extensive restaurant and wine experience, is currently employed by Robin's in Cambria and was formerly employed at Black Cats in Cambria. While serving as the Assistant Manager of Baywood Wine Cellars Tasting Room, Ms. Smith was the top wine seller and represented Baywood Cellars on Chef John Pisto's internationally syndicated television show "Monterey's Cookin' Pisto Style." Ms. Smith, a resident of Morro Bay, also served as customer service and warranty administrator for Smith Volvo in San Luis Obispo.

Ms. Smith is responsible for dinner train excursion operations which will commence on Easter weekend, April 6-8. The ex-California Zephyr dome car Silver Lariat will be chartered for four weekends, Easter weekend, Mother's Day weekend, Memorial Day weekend, and Father's Day weekend. On July 1 the dining car Toulani will be brought in for three months and in August an ex-Canadian National baggage car Pony Express will be chartered by the SMVRR.

Seats are still available for the Season Opener Spring Dinner Excursion Special on Friday April 6, and limited seats are available for the Farmers Showcase Lunch Special on Saturday April 7, Silver Lariat Dinner Special also on Saturday April 7, and Sunday Easter Brunch Special on Sunday April 8.

Reservations are now open for Couples Night out at the Santa Maria Inn on Friday May 11. This includes a dinner excursion on the Silver Lariat, one night stay in the tower room of the historic Santa Maria Inn and a complimentary breakfast the net morning in the dining room of the Santa Maria Inn. Reservations are also open for the Strawberry Season Lunch Special on Saturday May 12 and Silver Lariat Dinner Excursion Special also on Saturday May 12 and the Mother's Day Brunch Special on Sunday May 13.
