The Santa Maria Valley Railroad A Wholly-Owned Subsidiary of Coast Belle Rail Corporation Leesdale Local Departs Guadalupe May 19, 2009 Union Pacific Railroad has been providing very reliable and consistent service with the Santa Maria Valley Railroad Interchange with the twice a week Leesdale local train. The Leesdale local has plenty of power, typically two SD70s on the head end, all of our cars are picked up and set out, no cars are left behind because of inadequate power or length of train issues as in the past. Here the LOF66 is heading south with a load of frozen strawberries, empty tank cars of fertilizer and propane, an empty centerbeam lumber car, and two loads from Celite/World Minerals on the White Hills Branch in Lompoc. The Leesdale local also picks up and sets out cars for Celite/ World Minerals, Conoco Phillips Coke Plant on the Nipomo Mesa, and other local traffic from Guadalupe to San Luis Obispo. ![]() ![]() ![]() Just south of Guadalupe at milepost 275. ![]() ![]() Just north of Casmalia. ![]() This ex-Southern Pacific locomotive (#7104, a GP40-2) came by MP275 heading north about 45 minutes before the LOF66 left Guadalupe. It's the Guadalupe local bringing loads from Celite/World Minerals into the Guadalupe yard for interchange with the LOF66. ![]() || About || Services || History || News || Events || Excursions || Store || Contact || |
