MOW Speeder Run on the Santa Maria Valley Railroad
April 4, 2009
Saturday the Motorcar Operators West (MOW) speeder group ran on the Santa Maria Valley Railroad. The Friends of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad helped out immensely - see more pictures of their support efforts. On Sunday, the group enjoyed a visit to the Bitter Creek Western Railroad thanks to Karl.

On the way to the Santa Maria Valley Railroad for today's event, the photograher caught the southbound Surfliner leaving Guadalupe.

The Surfliner was being pushed by the Operation Lifesaver locomotive (AMTK 455, an EMD F59PHI).

Set on was at the Betteravia Industrial Park, headquarters for the Santa Maria Valley Railroad.

"The Woody" gets its inspection.

They're checking out the SMVRR system map.

The safety briefing was at 8:30am.

The group turned around at Guadalupe.

And turned again on Jones Street just short of Broadway.

It was fairly busy in the fields today.

The Friends of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad provided a Santa Maria-style BBQ for lunch.

The 2nd Amtrak southbound Surfliner of the day.

Across the Green Canyon Trestle.

And then the 3rd Amtrak train of the day, the northbound Coast Starlight.
