Last Revenue Run from the Downtown Yard
September 19, 2008

Actually, the process started yesterday when the La Condesa was removed from the downtown yard.

Packing up the contents of the enginehouse continues.

As of today, the foreground marks the eastern end of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad (Miller Street is directly behind the view).

That's a wheel set for one of the 70-tonners.

Jim McEntire was today's conductor. The crew is headed out to the Guadalupe exchange yard to pick up quite a few cars. Santa Maria Valley Railroad got its first setout last night since the Metrolink accident at Chatsworth blocked much of the coast mainline a week ago.

And Anthony Torres did the engineering honors.

Anthony (in the cab) chats with Rob Himoto, President of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad.

Jim gives a final wave as No. 70 heads for the gate and out of the yard for the last time.

The rear of the loco is at the spot that will soon mark the new eastern terminus of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad along the east side of McClelland Street.

On down Jones Street, so long!
