Open House
December 9, 2006

The Santa Maria Valley Railroad held an Open House today from 11am to 3pm, welcoming visitors to explore exhibits in the historic freight depot building and to tour Caboose No. 180 parked adjacent to the depot.

A 1.6 inch scale model of SMVRR Caboose No. 210 was loaned to the SMVRR for today's festivities. The full-scale Caboose No. 210 is currently on display at the Guadalupe Amtrak station.

Pictures of recent events were displayed on this wall:

Caboose No. 180 was available for visiting. This caboose was recently restored by the Santa Maria Valley Railway Historical Museum, which, as it turned out, was having its own Holiday Lionel Open House today, too.

Some relic railroad equipment was on display, and this youngster tried (unsuccessfully) to raise dispatch on the telephone.

These two got a charge out of sitting up in the cupola seat.
